Privacy Policy
How SnackYak collects, uses and protects your information — written plainly, the way we'd want it explained to us.
SnackYak ("we", "us", "our") makes small-batch Himalayan pickles in Darjeeling. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit snackyak.in or place an order, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023.

Cookies and analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used — which pages are visited, on what kind of device, and where visitors arrive from — so we can make SnackYak better. This is the only analytics tool on the site.
Analytics cookies are off by default. When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept or decline analytics cookies, and we use Google Consent Mode v2 so that no analytics or advertising storage is set until you choose Accept. If you decline, Google receives only anonymous, cookieless signals and no analytics cookies are stored on your device. We also enable IP anonymisation on every measurement.
Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage (under the key sy_consent_v1) so we don't ask again on every visit. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser storage for this site, which brings the banner back.
We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting or selling data, and we do not allow Google to use your data for ad personalisation.
Information you give us when ordering
When you place an order — whether through our checkout or over WhatsApp — we collect the details needed to fulfil it: your name, delivery address, phone number or email, and the items you want. Payments are handled by our payment processor (Razorpay); your full card or banking details are entered on their secure systems and are never stored by us.
If you contact us, sign up for updates, or message us on WhatsApp, we keep that correspondence so we can reply and serve you.
How we use your information
We use your data only to: process and deliver your orders, respond to your messages, send updates you have asked for, keep the site secure, and — with your consent — measure and improve how SnackYak works. We do not sell your personal data.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the service providers that help us run SnackYak, and only as far as needed: Google Analytics (website analytics, with your consent), Razorpay (payments), Vercel (website hosting), and delivery partners who carry your order. Each processes data under its own privacy terms. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Analytics data in GA4 is retained for up to 14 months and then deleted automatically. Order and contact records are kept only as long as needed for the order, our records, and any legal or tax obligations.
Your rights under the DPDP Act
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to ask us to correct or complete it, to request its erasure where it is no longer needed, and to withdraw consent you have given (such as for analytics) at any time. To exercise any of these, write to us at hello@snackyak.in and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a request, you may raise a grievance with us first, and you retain the right to approach the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
SnackYak is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site or the law evolves. The "last updated" date at the top of the page always reflects the current version.
